Aman Hyderabadi is a poor poet who among many competitors strives to make his mark. He meets a woman names Shabnam, who is Inspector Bahadur's daughter and falls in love with her. Shabnam's father disapproves of this, so Shabnam and Aman elope to another city and he changes his name intoKamal Lucknowi. Kamal plans to start his life with shabnam in a new place, and becomes a singer. However his voice is given away as an his identity as Police Inspector Shekhar who is his friend-tuned-foe plans to nab him and separate him and Shabnam.
