A dancer wins an ancient portrait as a prize for winning a competition. Soon after, she is presumed dead and horrific events occur in her family. A wise sage and an expert psychiatrist attempt to expose the truth, even as their own lives come under threat. What will their investigations reveal?
An ancient painting of Chandramukhi, alias Nagavalli (Anushka Shetty), floats away to a distant place, where it finally comes into the hands of a village painter. The painter takes it home to restore it. When his wife asks him to sell the painting, he becomes furious, saying that he wouldn't sell it off even at the cost of his life.
The next day, the painter is shown to be dead under mysterious circumstances, possibly being a suicide. The painting is then sold off to the organisers of a dons competition, who distribute the portrait as a prize to Bharatanatyam dancer Gayathri (Kamalinee Mukherjee), her husband and her family.
Gayathri lives in a palatial house in Tirupathi with her husband, father Shankar Rao (Sharat Babu), mother Parvathi (Prabha), sisters Geetha (Shraddha Das) and Gowri (Richa Gangopadhyay), and extended family. A few years later, Gayathri and her husband are shown to be dead. However, on the day of Gowri''s engagement, youngest of the three sisters of Gayathri, one of her friends faints after encountering a huge thirty-feet Snake/Serpent, and the bridegroom/fiancé runs away due to fear.
In a bid to find a solution to the strange occurrences, the family calls for a snake charmer to the house, but the snake charmer dies when he attempts to make the serpent appear. The members of the family are psychologically affected by the presence of Chandramukhi's painting and the atmosphere of their home becomes increasingly disturbed.
They decide to contact Acharya Ramchandra Siddhanthi (Avinash), a wise sage, who is an expert in traditional Indian astrology. The father of the three daughters tells the people and the Acharya that Gayathri and her husband died suddenly after the Bharatanatyam competition.
The Acharya takes the help of Dr. Vijay (Venkatesh), a psychiatrist, to solve the problem. The cause for the frightening incidents in the dark, powerful, paranormal and other-worldly forces, which may be impossible for humans to defeat. How will the Acharya and Dr Vijay view the complex mystery at hand? What will the investigations of Dr Vijay and the Acharya reveal? Will they succeed in exposing the truth despite terrible danger to their lives?
