Anu is a wealthy Bombay-based young woman, whose father is the business magnate Jaggu Kailashnath. While on a vacation at Ooty she meets with and falls in love with Vishal, who also lives in Bombay, and works as a photographer in 'Target' an agency where he is also a partner. Anu's dad approves of him and gets them both married. They live a fairly harmonious lifestyle which is shattered when Anu suspects Vishal of having an affair with Rosie. As a solution to her problems, Anu's friend Seema advises her to read a book about dog training, and train her husband to be a loyal one. Anu follows the advice and even succeeds in making Vishal behave according to her expectations for the most part, until Vishal comes to know of the book. In Bollywood, Kamal Haasan and Rati Agnihotri have done two films together; While Ek Duuje Ke Liye (1981) became a blockbuster, this movie failed to rise up to expectations.

Interestingly after the release of this movie, Kamal left Bollywood for personal reasons and resurfaced after a long hiatus with Chachi 420 (1997), although he did have successful dubbed releases like Pushpak (1988), Appu Raja (1990) and Mayor Sahab (1990) and Hindustani (1996).
