This evocative love story delves into the life of Unnikrishnan (Mammootty) who works as a forest officer, and falls deeply in love with Thulasi (Shobana). In a cruel twist of fate, Unnikrishnan gets arrested for the murder of his best friend, a crime he did not commit, and is forced to accept years of imprisonment.
As he sets off to jail, he frees his fiancee from any obligation to wait for him. At the completion of his prison term, he embarks upon a journey to meet Thulasi, but the question remains, will she still be waiting for him?
