As the 50th anniversary of the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus approaches, Australian Greek Cypriots aged 70 to 102 share their personal eyewitness accounts of Cyprus and their journeys to Australia. Among them are three who migrated in the 1950s and three who fled as refugees during 1974. Having endured profound loss, they remain hopeful for a future where their beloved island is reunified. TWO HOMELANDS weaves together rare archival footage with intimate personal stories, blending moments of pathos and humor to resonate deeply with all Cypriots. For others, it sheds light on an ongoing occupation that remains illegal and unjust. Set against a geopolitically strategic backdrop in a region still riddled with unresolved conflicts, the film reflects on the futility of war and its human toll, fifty years after the bombs ceased falling.
