Trivia:
This film's story is partially inspired by the experiences of Don Lane, a courier for DPD who died January 2018 after working through illness in the Christmas delivery rush. He had skipped several hospital appointments to treat his type 1 diabetes because he had been charged £150 by DPD when he missed deliveries to attend an appointment and feared further charges.

Kris Hitchen found inspiration for his role from his time working as a plumber in the years between acting jobs.

This film was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.

Despite having a broken arm in a sling, Loach appeared to promote the film at Cannes, where he said that it would be his final film to compete at the festival.

This film received the audience award for best European film at the 2019 San Sebastián International Film Festival.
