Trivia:
The characterisation of Shakaal was based on the James Bond villain, Blofeld.

Helen, a sensual actress made a sizzling appearance in this movie for the song, Yamma Yamma.

The soundtrack of this movie was phenomenally successful and won RD Burman a Filmfare nomination for Best Music on that year.

Due to several logistical and casting delays, the movie making took for almost three years.

Actor Shatrughan Sinha demanded an extra payment of Rs 25,000 to work with Amitabh Bachchan and received the same.

The climax of this film was seen repeated in Shekhar Kapur's Mr. India movie.

This movie raised huge expectation when a mammoth set was erected at Filmcity, in Goregaon. A glass and mirror set which cost nearly Rs. 8 lakhs, was an enormous amount for that period.

Originally the role of Vijay was written for Dharmendra (I), and the role of Renu was written for Hema Malini, but due a dispute with Ramesh Sippy both walked out of the film.

Originally Amitabh Bachchan was doing the role of Ravi, who then took the role of Vijay and 'Shashi Kapoor' agreed to play Ravi.
