Samudram (1999)

This fast-paced crime thriller traces the twists and turns in the life of Sagar (Jagapathi Babu), an easy-going youngster who leads a happy life with his widowed mother (Sudha), sister Chanti (Prathyusha), girlfriend Rajya Lakshmi (Sakshi Sivanand) and friends. Chepala Krishna (Tanikella Bharani) and his younger brother Chepala Nani (Ravi Teja) are noted smugglers in Vizag. Krishna has a lifetime ambition to become an MLA. Sagar and Nani always have clashes from childhood.

C.I. Srihari (Srihari) is an honest Police Officer newly appointed to the area. Krishnam Raju (Sivaji Raja), a S.I. of the same area is very loyal to him. Both of them get to know about all the criminals in that area. The target Krishna who sits at the top of the most wanted criminals list. When Krishna is about to file his nominations for the post of an M.L.A, he gets arrested by Srihari. Srihari makes sure that Krishna is unable to fulfill his ambition of becoming a member of the legislative assembly by exposing his criminal acts. Naturally, Krishna vows revenge against him.

One day Srihari gets information that Nani is in the process of conducting a smuggling operation at a particular place. Srihari goes on the chase, spots Nani and starts running him down with the help of Krishnam Raju.

At this critical juncture, Sagar's sister's marriage arrangements are going on. Sagar goes to the bazaar for some important purchases. As the police officers enter a side-street, Nani and Krishnam Raju kill Srihari. Sagar sees everything and tries to rescue Srihari but is implicated in the murder and ends up getting sentenced to life imprisonment.

Nukaraju (Prakash Raj) is a humble constable, who is transferred to that area. He is an avid admirer of the late Srihari. Sagar's mother is hospitalized when she resists Nani who attempts to rape Sagar's sister. Nukaraju is on duty to accompany Sagar to the hospital to visit his mother. There Sagar gives Nukaraju the slip and escapes from the hospital and targets Krishna, Nani, and Krishnam Raju. Will Sagar successfully avenge the criminals and prove his own innocence?
