Uttarakhand, renowned as Devbhoomi, holds a distinctive tradition called 'Pitrikuda' (Lingwas), adding to its rich cultural tapestry. This tradition, also known as Lingavas, underscores the state's unique identity globally, showcasing its abundant diversity in culture, rituals, and traditions.

In the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, 'Pitrikuda' is a small mythological temple made of stones situated in elevated areas of villages. This tradition dates back centuries, established by the ancestors of each village in Garhwal. Known as Pitrikuda or Lingavas, after a family member's demise, they are honored post-funeral rites and worshipped as ancestral deities in the form of a Linga, a small round stone, typically sourced from riverbanks, measuring 5-6 inches.
