Nimishingal (1986)

This suspenseful crime thriller traces the investigations of a journalist, Murali, who is requested by his friend to delve into the mysterious death of the daughter of a powerful and wealthy man. As he feels very strongly about professional ethics, Murali is initially reluctant take up the assignment, but becomes deeply intrigued and involved in the investigation very soon. He reaches out to Dr Menon, the director of a psychiatric hospital, but after being thwarted by him, he seeks information from a nurse. Diwan Bahadur is a powerful and wealthy person in the area, and his young daughter, Maya's life became embroiled in some mysterious tragedy, that Murali needs to unravel the puzzle piece by piece. Slowly, the case draws Murali deeper and deeper into a web of love, lust, loss, deception, betrayal, rejection, mental illness and crime. Will he succeed in solving the puzzle before his own life becomes caught up in it? What really happened to Maya and why?
