Three days before his wedding, Sai is fired from his job and his house is robbed of everything of value, including a diamond necklace he had planned on giving to his bride-to-be. He has to find the thief within three days so that he can get married. He embarks upon an adventurous, hilarious roller-coaster ride with his friend Jani. Their mad caper begins when they meet a pot-smoking slacker loafing aimlessly with his pet goat.

The movie was initially titled as 'Take it easy' but upon suggestions from fellow filmmakers, the director changed the title to 'Mithai'.
The initial dream sequence involved a horse ride, but since Rahul doesn't know horse riding, it was changed as a donkey riding sequence as per his suggestion.
