Australian film and television director Garth Davis is best known for creating the 2013 hit TV series Top of the Lake for which he had received several awards including a Gold Lion at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. His directorial debut 'Lion' has garnered rave reviews and had won several awards and six nominations at the 89th Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

In January 2016, Davis was hired to direct a Mary Magdalene biopic written by Helen Edmundson.

Davis has also directed two Oscar nominated performers- Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman

Garth has directed the movie 'Lion' which is based on Saroo Brierley's autobiography - 'A Long Way Home'.
