G Prabha has worked as a freelance writer for several Malayalam publications like Kerala Kaumudi, Kalakaumudi, Janmabhumi daily etc. since 1980. He is fluent in Malayalam, Sanskrit, English, Hindi, and Tamil.
A former assistant professor at St.Josephs College, Trichy and Head of the Department for Oriental Languages at Loyola College, Chennai, Mr Prabha has scripted and written the critically acclaimed documentary films 'Akkitham' and 'Agnaye'.
G Prabha has received several awards including - the best director award for 'Akkitham' at Kerala Film Audience Council, Thrissur (2010), best director award and special Jury award at the Dakshina Film Festival, Chennai (2011), and best documentary award for his documentary film 'Agnaye' at the National Academy of Cinema and Television, Banglore (2014)
He is a member of the board of studies in the dept. of Sanskrit, at the University of Madras, and a part of several reputed organizations including - member of IQAC at Loyola College, Chennai, Jury member at the literary award committee at Asan Memorial, Chennai and a member of various socio-cultural and literary organizations.
He has published more than 26 Research papers in reputed journals like Journal of Asiatic Society, Encyclopaedia of Hinduism and has written numerous articles which are published in various Malayalam magazines and dailies.
