Continuity
When Sarah and Brad are in their bedroom talking Sarah is in bed and her tablet continues to change positions and locations while it's on the pillow each time the camera cuts to her.

Factual Mistake
Brad reveals that the tickets for the basketball game cost him $18,000 from a ticket-tout, however, the arena is clearly not even close to being sold out, even at court-side level where there are numerous rows with at least five seats in a row together, so he could have easily just gone to the box office and got the tickets at the normal price.
Trivia:
The scene involving Will Ferrell's character botching a half court shot and hitting a cheerleader with a basketball was filmed during halftime of a real basketball game between the Pelicans and the Lakers in New Orleans. Videos of the incident quickly popped up on video sites such as YouTube and Vine.

Will Ferrell was originally set to play the real father, with Ed Helms set to play the stepfather.

Vince Vaughn was originally cast in the role that went to Mark Wahlberg.

As told in the trailer, this is the second time Mark Wahlberg has been told to put a shirt on. It was first referenced when Steve Carell mentioned it in Date Night (2009).

Tony Hawk and Mike McGill served as stunt doubles for a skateboarding scene in the film.

The airport in the movie is actually the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The airport was too busy for filming, so the convention center signage was changed to make it look like an airport.

John Cena has a cameo role in this film. In the earlier film _Trainwreck_, Cena's character makes reference to Mark Wahlberg.

Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell both appeared in The Other Guys (2010).

Billy Slaughter and Will Ferrell previously appeared in The Campaign (2012).
