American actor Benjamin George Bratt is popularly known for his role as the NYPD Detective Rey Curtis on the NBC drama series 'Law & Order', and his character of Dr. Jake Reilly from ABC's 'Private Practice'. Born in San Francisco, California, and third of the five children born to Eldy, a nurse and activist, and Peter Bratt Sr., a sheet metal worker, Benjamin has German and English ancestry and had attended the prestigious Lowell High School, where he was a member of the Lowell Forensic Society. Bratt earned a B.F.A. at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1986. Bratt had taken up various hispanic roles and had received recognition for his roles in popular films like Miss Congeniality, Blood In Blood Out and Traffic. In the 2017 film Coco, Bratt had voiced the character of Ernesto de la Cruz, a Mexican folk legend and main character Miguel's idol.Benjamin had also sang "Remember Me" which had won Best Original Song at the 2018 Academy Awards. In 1998, Bratt began dating actress Julia Roberts for fourth months and then announced that they weren't together. In 2002, he began dating and then married his girlfriend, actress Talisa Soto, on April 13, 2002 in San Francisco, and received their first child together, daughter Sophia Rosalinda Bratt on December 6, 2002; and their second child, son Mateo Bravery Bratt, was born on October 3, 2005.
