The title song of the film was shot in Mumbai at sets and choreographed by Bosco-Caesar, a popular choreographer duo who've worked for over 300 films in Bollywood, made their debut in Tamil with this film. For the same song, which was picturized in Vishal and the three leading actresses, Neetu Chandra is said to have soaked in a bathtub full of red chillies, which is considered one of the highlights of the entire film.

The movie was lavishly shot at several locations like Mumbai, Hyderabad, the Maldives and Kochi. Other locations include Australia and New Zealand. Furthermore, other songs were shot across Australia, in both urban and natural backgrounds.

The film was to be produced by Ramesh Babu, who earlier produced Vijay's blockbuster film 'Pokkiri'. However, as the producer later walked out of the project, Vishal's brother Vikram Krishna along with his wife Sriya Reddy eventually took up the project and decided to produce it under their home banner G. K. Films Corporation.

The movie was dubbed in Telugu under the title 'Khilladi'.

This is loosely based on 2006 Telugu film 'Chukkallo Chandrudu', starring Siddarth Narayan, and the similar Telugu film 'Allari Premikudu' starring Jagapati Babu. Despite the similarities the movie opened with positive response and was a box office success.

A former Miss India Universe, and Hindi actress Tanushree Dutta, makes her Tamil cinema debut with this movie, while Sarah-Jane Dias a former Miss India World, makes her acting debut.

Sneha and Mallika Kapoor make special appearances and Prakash Raj can also be seen in a guest appearance in this movie.

The producer of this movie, Vikram Krishna, also happens to be the elder brother of the lead actor Vishal Krishna.
