This contemporary thriller revolves around Karan Kapoor, Tanzing and Chandu who, after completing their college studies, join hands with a black-marketeer, Archie, who gets them to travel to Bangkok for money-laundering purposes. En route they meet gorgeous Jaipur-based Bulbul Singh, and after the completion of this mission, the foursome decide to put their heads together to get rich quickly. Karan disappoints his father, Sajjan, by giving up on getting an MBA Degree, and the four re-locate to New York where they proceed to scam businesses with considerable success. In course of time, Karan and Bulbul fall in love with each other. Money pours in, resulting in abuse, alcohol and bitterness; differences surface between the four, especially when a pregnant Bulbul finds out that Karan has married a woman named Pamela Sahni. Will the friends succeed in staying together? Will their fraudulent and illegal businesses continue to flourish or will the law catch up with them?

When the group flies from (erstwhile) Bombay to Bangkok, their plane is a double-decker Jumbo 747. funnily, when it is shown as landing in Bangkok, it is an Airbus A300 or A310.

The film is in 1994, when India's financial and entertainment hub was called Bombay. Early in the movie, when the group flies to Bangkok, the airport sign says 'Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport'. This name was adopted only in 2000, under the PM Shri Vajpayee.

At the start of the movie, it is clearly mentioned that the year is 1994, when Mumbai was known as Bombay. Yet, at the airport, the sign prominently shows 'Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport'. This name (CSIA) was adopted only in 2000, under the then Prime Minister AB Vajpayee.

Parmeet Sethi originally wasn't keen on casting Anushka Sharma, but changed his mind when he eventually agreed to meet her at producer Aditya Chopra's insistence.

A huge, falling chandelier would have crushed Anushka Sharma while shooting a musical sequence of the film at MT Studios, were it not for Shahid Kapoor promptly pulling her towards him and out of harms way.

While filming the sequence for the film's title song on March 22nd 2010, Shahid Kapoor reportedly refused to wear a white vest despite director Parmeet Sethi's and producer Aditya Chopra's insistence and the fact that this had been previously agreed upon. The differing parties eventually agreed to compromise on a half-sleeve white tee-shirt and filming could resume.
