Priya Anand is an Indian actress, who has taken up roles in South Indian films predominantly. Born to a Tamilian father, and mother with Telugu and Marathi origin, her heritage probably gifted her with a flair for languages, as she is proficient in a host of languages including Tamil, Telugu, English, Bengali, Hindi, Marathi and Spanish.
Fascinated by the creative and artistic aspects of cinema since childhood, Priya always aimed to enter the film industry and work on the technical aspects of film-making, and never even dreamt of becoming an actress. After completing a degree in Communications and Journalism at the University at Albany, she returned to India in 2008.
Initially, she ventured into modeling, appearing in various television advertisements before gaining a foothold into the movie industry with a Tamil movie Vaamanan (2009). Since then she has had a string of successes both in Tamil and Telugu including Pugaippadam (2010), Leader (2010), Rama Rama Krishna Krishna (2010). With English Vinglish (2012), she entered the Hindi cinema industry and has had incredible successes, including two other Hindi movies Fukrey (2013) and Rangrezz (2013), further establishing her as one of the most talented and multi-faceted young actresses in Indian cinema.
