This historical saga revolves around King Bhagirath was faced with a terrible conundrum. His forefathers had been cursed and turned into ash, but there was no way of setting them free. Therefore, King Bhagirath performed severe penance in order to find a solution. Finally he was told that the solution would be to bring the ultimate symbol of purity, the Ganga down to earth in order to purify the sins of his forefathers and grant them redemption.
