George Bizet's L'Arlésienne Suite Number one, 4th Movement called 'Carillon', is the inspiration for the song 'Entha Poovilum' and the soundtrack of this movie was extremely well received.

This was the first film for Rajinikanth with AVM Productions. AVM had stopped producing films by 1970 and this movie marked their re-entry into Tamil films after a decade. This film boasts of the highest budget ever for a Rajini starrer at that time.
