This multi-layered romantic comedy delves into the twists and turns in the life of Ian, an intelligent young man, who has been estranged from his father since childhood. His father never had time for him when Ian was a child, as he worked too many hours, but is now interested in re-establishing a bond with him. So, he invites Ian for a holiday on the ski slopes. Covering up deep-seated hurt with a blasé and resentful attitude towards his father, Ian reluctantly accepts the invitation, and convinces a group of his best friends, all in their early 20s, to join him. The friends who join him have their own complications and emotional struggles to deal with, for example, David is gay and virginal; Ian's business partner, Keaton, is unhappy that his sister Jane is pregnant with no plans to tell the father; Lisa is everybody's pal and no one's lover; John, stuck in adolescence, is always on the make. He brings German-born stunner, Carla, and promptly loses her affection to Hans, a fast-talking ski instructor. David meets Manny: they have chess in common. Soon, surprises abound as relationships take new turns. How will the relationship between Ian and his father evolve?

The echoes we hear when they're at the ski slope would never sound like that anywhere outdoors.

When Ian and his dad take the cable car to the top of the slope, the amount of skis on the side change when we see what's supposed to be their car.
