Ek Bura Aadmi is a work of fiction inspired by real life stories of well-known criminals turned politicians from the North Indian states of UP and Bihar.
The protagonist, Munna Siddiqui is a typical small town youth who starts as a disciplined and idealistic politician practicing value-based politics but ends up becoming a consummate practitioner of manipulative politics.
Munna's story is an exemplification of how ordinary people come into politics with all the right intentions, but find themselves radically changed by an inherently flawed and corrupt system.
His slow but sure transformation from good to bad –he comes into politics with the ultimate intention of helping the downtrodden fight for their basic rights, but is eventually forced to change and employ questionable means to achieve these goals–is highlighted through a series of dramatic events.
This dramatic thriller raises some serious questions about the ethos of modern Indian society and its dominant political culture.
