Dr. Bezbarua’ is a 1969 Assamese thriller/detective film — the first film of this genre in the language. The story of the film revolves around protagonist Shivam, the adopted son of industrialist Yashwant Malhotra. When Malhotra’s friend, Dr Satyakam Choudhary, comes to know that Shivam is not the biological son of Malhotra, he starts blackmailing his friend for money and property. Choudhury even traces the whereabouts of Shivam’s biological family. Things get murkier and the story goes on.It was also first time the outdoor and indoor shooting took place entirely in various locations of Assam. Directed by Brojen Baruah, this film featured Assamese actor Nipon Goswami. Other roles were played by Tara, Tarun Dowrah, Brojen Baruah, Ranjana Bordoloi and more.
