A 'one-time' watch.

Concussion is definitely not for the NFL buffs as I thought it would be. So be careful. But anyway, the movie keeps you engaged for sure. Its definitely worth watching. But frankly, I would place this movie in a 'one-time watch' category. Will Smith has definitely done justice to the role. He plays Dr. Bennet Omalu, and i would describe his acting as precise. Precise because no one knows Dr. Omalu for sure unless you are familiar with the 2009 article( ring a bell?). So, Concussion is basically a good movie. Will Smith fans will definitely love him in this avatar.

Revealing Mistakes
When Dr Omalu is looking for a CT Scan of Mike Webster, his assistant hands him an MRI Scan instead. On a CT Scan you see bone as white, and on an MRI you can't see bone.
The second film with Will Smith as the lead role to be released by Columbia Pictures on December 25th. The first film was Ali (2001). Also, he portrayed real-life figures in both of these films.

Klayton (frontman of Celldweller) provided synth programming for the score.

Mike Webster died at 50 from a heart attack. His life after football found him living in car, sleeping in train stations and being arrested for forging 19 Ritalin prescriptions. He said that he used the drug to help with his brain damage caused by concussions. Doctors determined that his frontal lobe was damaged causing cognitive dysfunction. At the time of his death he was "homeless, unemployed, deep in debt beset with medical ailments, lacking in health insurance" and in the middle of a divorce.

Will Smith and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje also star together in Suicide Squad (2016).

There are several photographs of John F. Kennedy visible in Cyril H. Wecht's office. The real Wecht is known for, among other things, his criticism of the Warren Commission's findings on the Kennedy assassination and Peter Landesman's previous film Parkland (2013) was a decidedly pro-Warren Commission findings telling of the Kennedy assassination.

The actual scientific article that brought CTE in football to light is "Chronic traumatic encephalopathy in a National Football League player," published in Neurosurgery. 2005 Jul;57(1):128-34. The full author list is: Omalu BI, DeKosky ST, Minster RL, Kamboh MI, Hamilton RL, Wecht CH. An abstract of the article is available at the US National Library of Medicine website (PubMed) and the full article is available from the journal's publishers (for a fee).

Alec Baldwin, who plays a doctor in the film, followed and studied several prominent Pittsburgh doctors while preparing for the film.

Will Smith and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje also star together in the film Suicide Squad (2016).

To prepare for the movie, Will Smith and writer-director Peter Landesman observed autopsies being performed, including two done by Dr. Bennet Omalu.

Lupita Nyong'o was offered the role of Prema Mutiso.

Matthew Willig, who has a role in the film, should be all too familiar with the subject matter as he spent 14 seasons playing in the National Football League.

Ridley Scott was originally set to direct after his film Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014).
