Embedded with charged emotion and familial sentiment, this multi-layered relationship drama delves into the revealing sequence of events that unfold, when the children of Madhavan, an ageing father, find out that his condition is serious, and that he may be dying. All three children rush to his bedside but, as the old man clings on to life, his two daughters return to their busy urban lives and his son’s wife leaves for fear of missing out on her Harvard fellowship.
However, the only son, Rajan (Mammootty) dutifully stays and the old man’s niece Ammukkutty (Seema), a schoolteacher who helped Rajan in his education but was not allowed to marry him, is summoned to come and look after the men. With exemplary devotion Ammukkutty tends to their needs while reconciling all members of the family with each other. How will Ammukkutty's patience and sacrifice be rewarded? Will Rajan and his wife settle their differences and reunite happily? Will Madhavan, Rajan's father return to normal health?
