This evocative family-oriented drama delves into the trials and triumphs in the life of Appu, a kind-hearted man. When Appu returns to his hometown, he is gladly welcomed by his mother, but everyone else looks upon him with stigma and hatred. The reason for this is that Appu had become mentally unstable, behaved in a deranged manner and spent time in a mental asylum.
Appu's girlfriend, Devi is still in love with him, but her family is dead against Appu, who is bewildered at the ferocity of the treatment he receives, primarily because he doesn't have any memory of his behaviour while he was disturbed. When he comes to know of the terrible deeds he had committed in a deranged state, especially the harm he had done to his beloved Periacchan, Appu is deeply guilt ridden. Can he make amends by helping the family?
