Factual Mistake
In the beginning when James is driving, there is a radio announcement made with the speaker stating that he was from VKG. VKG is the Police Operation Center call sign for NSW (New South Wales). The correct call sign for the W.A. (West Australian) Police is VKI.

Errors in Geography
The film gives the impression that the northern suburb of Malaga (the location of the ice rink) and the southern suburb of Willeton (the location of the library) are relatively close together. These suburbs are approximately 25 kilometers apart, and traveling between the two in the fastest way would require driving through the (burning)Perth city center.
Trivia:
This Australian film was selected to be screened as part of the Directors' Fortnight section of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.

Because Perth is antipodal to Bermuda in the Atlantic, an asteroid strike in the North Atlantic would leave Perth as one of the last places on Earth the firestorm would hit.
