This nail-biting action bonanza tells the epic story of warriors, assassins and a lone, outsider hero in nineteenth-century China who must unite to destroy the clan traitor who would destroy them all.
Since his arrival in China’s Jungle Village, the town’s blacksmith has been forced by radical tribal factions to create elaborate tools of destruction.
When the clashes between the clans brews and boils over instigating a war, the stranger ‘channels’ an ancient energy to transform himself into a human weapon. As he fights alongside iconic heroes and against soulless villains, one man, an unlikely hero in the form of a British soldier of fortune, must harness this power to become saviour of his adopted people.

Liu wanted to emphasize Blossom's strength against all the male fighters and convinced RZA to give the character a fight sequence with Cung Le's Bronze Lion.
Crowe agreed to do the movie in return for RZA giving some rap lessons to the South Sydney Rabbitohs, a rugby league team he co-owns.
The first cut of the film was four hours long. RZA suggested splitting it into two films, but producer Eli Roth disagreed, and it was ultimately cut down to approximately 90 minutes.
