Pawan Kalyan, whose birth name is Konidala Kalyan Babu, was born to Konidela Venkata Rao and Anjana Devi on September 2, 1971. A noted Indian movie actor, martial artist, director, screenwriter, stunt coordinator, and choreographer, this multi-dimensional artist’s career is predominantly concentrated in Telugu cinema. He is the younger brother of Telugu Megastar Chiranjeevi and Nagendra Babu.
With a black belt in karate, Pawan Kalyan is an exceptionally well-trained martial artist, which he has displayed to perfection in many of his movies. He had originally entered movies as Kalyan Babu, and was later awarded the title "Pawan", for his strength, fluid grace and fast movements. In 2001, he even took a two-year sabbatical from work to further pursue his passion for martial arts, and went to Japan to learn Aikido.
Kalyan made his acting debut in the Telugu movie Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi (1996). In 1998, he starred in Tholi Prema, which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu for that year. He has had a consistent string of successes like Gokulamlo Seetha (1997), Suswagatham (1998),Thammudu (1999), Badri (2000), Kushi (2001), Jalsa (2008) and the blockbuster Gabbar Singh (2012) for which he received the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu and CineMAA Award for Best Actor - Male.
