The film's protagonist Lucky's character is based on a real Delhi thief who was caught by police with 200 Sarees which he had stolen. The local media the presented him as 'Superchor' (Super Thief) and being inspired from that the film has a song 'Superchor'.

All the songs in the movie are either Director 'Dibakar Banarjee''s compositions or their lyrics, are written by him.

Once in the film, Dolly boasts of her Canadian husband in front of Sonam. After a few weeks of the movie's music release, a popular radio station 'Radio Mantra' broadcasted a commercial in which two woman are chatting and one of them is boasting about the Canadian home accessories brought by her husband. The song which plays in the commercial's background is The film's title track "Oye Lucky Lucky Oye".

The name of the featured school is the same as the school which the director Dibakar Banherjee studied at as a teenager.

Almost all the songs have the word 'Jugni' in them. 'Jugni' is Punjabi for 'My darling'.
