This masterfully crafted, evocative love story delves into concepts of love, heartbreak and second chances through the life of Divya (Revathi), who is unable to resign herself to a forced marriage, and married life in Delhi with Chandra Kumar (Mohan). She recalls, in flashback, her carefree days with her first boyfriend, the rebellious social-activist Manmohan (Karthik), who was shot dead in front of the courthouse, just before they were to have a registered marriage.
She seeks a divorce, but as the law requires the couple to stay together for a year, they decide to live separately in the same house. Will Divya continue to remain cold towards the warm and loving Chandra Kumar? Can she come to terms with her past and accept the second chance that life has offered her? Will Chandra Kumar continue loving her despite her past love affair and hurtful demeanor?
