Miscellaneous
When Burnsie first finds the cabin and the girls, as he walks up to the cabin his shadow is visible against the door. The sun can be seen behind him, so any shadows should be cast towards the camera. The reason for the shadow is the board reflector used to provide fill light for the scene, but it can not accounted for by the depicted environment.

Continuity
When Annabel hears the girls playing, she goes into their room to tell them how late it is and to go to sleep - but it's light outside. There are about 3 other times when it's supposedly nighttime and the light is streaming in through the windows.

Continuity
When Lily persuades Victoria to call Mama, her blanket's end changes between different shots.

Continuity
In the introduction, when the the car is driving on the icy road, the girls are not in the back seat.

Continuity
When the girls are in the cabin and Lilly looks out the window, her right glasses lens is clearly missing.

Continuity
In the cabin in the opening scene, the girls' position relative to each other switches between shots when the cherry seed is rolled to them.

Continuity
When Victoria hits Lucas when he first visits her following her return from the wilderness, his hair is ruffled. His hair then changes several times between shots.

Crew/Equipment Visible
When young Victoria is walking into the cabin for the first time, she steps onto the snow which sticks to her foot revealing that it is a actually a white carpet.

Factual Mistake
The film is set in Virginia and while most elements are factual, such as the state seal in the librarian's ID badge, all cars in Virginia have a State Inspection Sticker on the center of the windshield. This is missing on all cars in the film.

Miscellaneous
When Annabel is searching Dr. Dreyfuss' computer, the folder containing his research is mistakenly labeled "Reasearch."
Trivia:
Mama is played by a man, Javier Botet, who has Marfan syndrome that give him a slender body and long fingers.

Mama's movement is not entirely CGI. Javier Botet can remove his joints as he wish. The only CGI on Mama is her hair.

Isabelle Nélisse can't speak English, which is why she's not given much dialogue and speaks more with body language.

Mama's appearance was inspired by painting by Modigliani, owned by Andrés Muschietti.

According to Chastain, Annabel's octopus tattoo describes her character. When Annabel found herself caught in a situation she did not like, such as the octopus, she would take off her tentacles and grow new tentacles to escape.
