புதுசான கதைக்களன் , அதற்கேற்ற டீட்டைளிங் , ரியலிஸ்டிக் அப்ரோச் , இயல்பான நடிப்பு என்று படத்திற்கு நிறைய ப்ளஸ் இருந்தாலும் அடுத்தடுத்து வரும் பாடல்கள் , கதிரை சுற்றியே நடக்கும் கதையில் அவனை போலவே நம்மையும் கேசுவலாக்கும் திரைக்கதை போன்ற குறைகளை " வாளை சுழட்டும் வாழ்க்கை தலை குனிந்தால் தப்பில்லை " என்று கானா பாலாவின் குரலில் வரும் ஒபனிங் சாங்குக்கு ஏற்ப நாமும் மன்னித்து விடலாம் . சினிமாத்தனம் இல்லாத நல்ல கதை இருந்தும் அதை எக்சிக்யுட் செய்த விதத்தில் கொஞ்சம் இடிப்பதால் கிருமி - ஸ்லிப் பெட்வீன் எ கப் அண்ட் லிப் ...

Director Anucharan weaves an intricate plot of cat and mouse games and one upmanship intertwined with politics in the law and order system and its implications on the innocent common man who often becomes a pawn in these mind games played under the veil of corruption and power.
Here we have a much teased protagonist Kathir( of Madhayanaikootam fame) who is quite a wastrel in spite of his talents and is a butt of jokes among his friends and a local bunch of hooligans at a bar which encourages gambling without permit.Things begin looking up when he is mentored and encouraged by a good hearted neighbour(Charlie, reliable and subtle as ever) after a few unfortunate run ins with the bar owners and the cops.His turning into a police informer and how his entire life changes under the system for which he works sincerely even losing a close friend and almost becoming a victim of the dirty politics is what the rest of the film narrates.
The film's biggest plus is its superlative editing which helps it move at a brisk pace and keeps us interested in the proceedings.The background score, camera work and intelligent dialogue are added strengths. Performances by the entire cast are uniformly of high order.Reshmi Menon as Kathi'r wife and young mother is quite refreshing.Yogi Babu's comic interludes come as a breath of fresh air.Even the sensual moments between the lead pair can pass of as cute with their sizzling on screen chemistry.Kathir displays more confidence and underplays his role well. He cuts a striking picture with his lanky physique as he goes from stubble avtaar to a clean shaven one(vaguely resembling Vishal in some scenes).
The climax may be quite a let down for audiences fed on commercial cinema but with a crisp run time of 110 minutes, this germ(Kirumi) of a movie is well worth a view.
