Trivia:
Initially Amitabh Bachchan's production company ABCL (Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited) was supposed to produce this film. In the end however, Veeru Devgan decided to produce as well as direct it.

This movie marks the directorial debut of Veeru Devgan, who is a renowned Stunt Master and the father of actor, Ajay Devgn.

Sushmita Sen played a model in this film. The footage used for her modeling competition is used from her real life competition from Miss Universe Pageant 1994.

The movie was a tribute to Veeru Devgan's mother.

Amitabh Bachchan's character was loosely written along the lines of a sutradhar "Narrator", a man of no particular religion who speaks his mind and addresses issues commonly which a common man will either fail to address or will only discuss behind closed doors.

Veeru Devgan had a desire to make a film on Muslim/Hindu conflicts and India/Pakistan partition and hence instead of crediting himself as a director and producer on the trailers/posters it was advertised as 'a dream by Veeru Devgan'.

This film opens with a patriotic message from Veeru Devgan of his dream of unity, one that can only be fulfilled by viewer's sense of unity and oneness with all nations, especially Pakistan.

The action scenes in the air was done in America by Hollywood Technicians, the initial Sky Diving sequences with Ajay Devgan took many weeks of training, as there wasn't any such facility or technology in India, the actual training was done in 14,000 feet in the sky, Ajay Jumped out of the Helicopter followed by the cameraman who had a helmet camera weighing 20/25kg shooting the action shot. The climax scene where Ajay Devgan has to land on a helicopter from his own helicopter required equally rigorous training.

Amitabh Bachchan and Navin Nischol had been edited into archive footage scenes of Freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose's revolutionary footage scenes to show that they had been part of the revolution for freeing India from the British.

Veeru Devgan had approached Amitabh Bachchan a few years earlier for potentially working together on a film as he was keen to venture into film direction. When Veeru narrated Hindustan Ki Kasam to Amitabh, who committed to it.

The makers had a particular type of music in mind, which after testing a few musician the Devgan's weren't fully impressed, Sukwinder Singh requested that he can demonstrate his music, which the Devgan's were impressed with and signed him instantly. 6-8 months were spent on composing the music tracks.
