Trivia:
Despite Amitabh Bachchan's phenomenal success during this time, this movie failed to rise up to expectations.

The original script was written by Kader Khan, but due to rivalry between Manmohan Desai and Kader Khan the script was changed. In the original script the movie was a three hero project, and the third hero's role was written for Rishi Kapoor.

While at scripting stage the movie's title was "Amar Akbar Anthony part 2".

Amitabh Bachchan, Jeetendra and Rishi Kapoor were the original trio to star in this film. It is rumored that shooting with the trio had taken place before the final changes took effect.

Mithun Chakraborty didn't co-operate to dub his dialog's and Sudesh Bhonsle stepped in who dubbed all his dialogues. The speculation at the time was that Mithun was disgruntled by what he perceived to be the director, Manmohan Desai's favouritism towards Amitabh Bachchan.
