This family-oriented relationship drama delves into the twists and turns in the life of Kumaran, a hard-working and honest man from a working-class economic background. He's in love with Ponni, the elder of two of his cousins. However, it is the younger cousin, Kamatchi who truly loves him while Ponni dreams of marry a wealthy man and leading a luxurious lifestyle. Due to his attraction for Ponni, Kumaran only looks upon Kamatchi as Ponni's immature and playful younger sibling. When faced with familial pressure, Ponni marries Kumaran and bears him a beautiful daughter, Meena. However, when she has the opportunity to run away with Kumaran's boss, she succumbs to temptation and elopes with him. The entire family is left in shame and sorrow. Will Kumaran agree to marry Kamatchi so that his young daughter may have a mother? Can they be happy together as a family? What will happen of Ponni? Will her family ever forgive her for her misconduct?
