Modern Tibet is a political hotbed where present-day is at war with traditional-past and an uncertain future awaits casualties who raise their voice in protest. Drapchi is based on the inspirational true story of 'Yiga' (played by the real subject from which she is based), a traditional Tibetan opera singer who is abducted and thrown into 'Drapchi,' the most dreaded prison on earth, for what Chinese government sees as rebellion through her songs of freedom and expression. After years of torture she breaks free and escapes to Nepal and from there to the West, taking with her an unbroken soul, tremendous strength and a voice that will never be silenced.
