Using pioneering cinematic techniques, this silent, short documentary captured the events of the coronation of King George V as the Emperor of India. The significant difference when it came to the Delhi Durbar of 1911 was that this time the King-Emperor himself attended.
A temporary city of tents was constructed, and an ampitheatre wherein the main ceremonies were staged. In a richly colourful display, British rule in India, and the privileged but inferior position of the Indian princes (on whose presence particular emphasis was placed) within the ruling hierarchy was illustrated through procession, pageantry and obeisance.
