Ashrita (1990)

This socially relevant, woman-centric drama revolves around Kusum, a beautiful young woman caught in a terrible situation. She is routinely beaten and sexually assaulted by her own husband. Unable to bear the domestic violence, she runs away and finds sanctuary in the home of a compassionate woman.

The woman ensures that Kusum has all the safety, love, care and affection she needs to heal from the scars of her past life and blossom into a vivacious and self-confident young woman.

The woman's son, Somu has spent a great deal of his life in the city and enjoys spending time with well-educated, modern women.
